Mary Luverne Miller Mary Luverne Miller went to meet her Lord on April 4, 2019, and into the loving arms of her husband of 72 years Lloyd, who preceded her in death three years prior. Born in Kalona, Iowa to Louis and Barbara Bender on a farm, the youngest of six siblings where she met her future husband Lloyd on a blind date. Mary and Lloyd moved to Arizona in the late 1940s. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Thurston (husband) George Thurston, and son, Jerry Miller (wife) Kim Miller, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A long time resident of Glendale. Mary was an accomplished seamstress, bookkeeper at a local service station and was a Food Service manager and nutritionist in the Fowler School District for 40 years. She was a long time member of the Trinity Mennonite Church. She volunteered at Children's Cancer Camp and the Mennonite Disaster Relief. After retirement she and Lloyd traveled extensively through the United States visiting friends and relatives and made their home at the Glencroft Retirement community where she was a court representative and worked in the community store. She will be remembered as a loving, hardworking wife and mother. One who gave of herself to her church and others in need. Mom set the standard to our family and others around her. Her smile and warmth will be always remembered.
